IndiGo Appoints New GC Priya Mehra And Principal Legal Counsel Bharat Bahadur

Recently, InterGlobe Aviation Limited (IndiGo) has expressed much interest in hiring people for its in-house legal team. Among them is J. Sagar Associates Partner Akshay Nagpal who resigned from the firm and joined IndiGo as Assistant General Counsel.

Moreover, it has been reported that lawyer Priya Mehra of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, a global law firm founded in Los Angeles in 1890, is leaving the firm to join the in-house team of IndiGo as General Counsel. Priya Mehra is currently Of Counsel in the Singapore office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. Her practice areas include mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures, private equity, privatization, capital markets and general corporate advice.

There are also reports that Bharat Bahadur of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher is leaving the firm to join the in-house team of IndiGo as Principal Legal Counsel. Bharat Vansh Bahadur is currently Associate Attorney in the Singapore office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. His practice areas include joint ventures, M&A, private equity, carbon trading and general corporate advice.

After confirmation from Priya, IndiGo’s President and whole-time Director Aditya Ghosh stated that “I am excited to have Priya join the Leadership Team at IndiGo. Given Priya’s experience both in India and overseas, I am confident that she will add value in many different ways.” Ghosh further added that “IndiGo is growing emphatically and we are constantly looking to add smart people to the team. We already have a smart, young and enthusiastic legal team at IndiGo and I am sure that Priya will have an exciting time working with them.”
With respect to her decision of moving in-house, Priya stated that “It is an exciting opportunity with a dynamic organization to get a feel of the business side after being the other side for more than 14+ years.”
