Accredited Media Persons may carry Mobile Phones Inside SC Courtrooms

On May 11, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India consented to the request of accredited Media Persons being allowed mobile phones on silent mode inside the Courtrooms of the Supreme Court. It has been directed that a cellphone creating any disturbance/nuisance inside Courtrooms will be confiscated by the Court Master and handed over to the Additional Registrar (Security).

Assistant Registrar, Sushil Kr Sharma has issued the notification, which states,

It is submitted that Hon'ble the Chief Justice of India vide orders dated 11.05.2018 has been pleased to accede to the request of the accredited Media Persons to allow mobile phones on silent mode inside the Courtrooms.

However, it was also notified ‘It has been directed that a cellphone creating any disturbance/nuisance inside Courtrooms will be confiscated by the Court Master and handed over to the Additional Registrar (Security).’
