Book Maligns My Image, Baba Ramdev Tells Delhi High Court

On August 23, Baba Ramdev told the Delhi High Court that the book 'Godman to Tycoon: The Untold Story of Baba Ramdev' was based on rumours and maligned his image.

Counsel and Senior Advocate Neeraj Kishan Kaul, who represented for Baba Ramdev told Justice Anu Malhotra that his reputation had been harmed by the book purportedly based on his life. The advocate also asserted that the book contained defamatory content and was purely based on fiction.

He further contended that an individual’s reputation is part of Article 21 of the Constitution and any harm to reputation has to be barred promptly. He said, “you cannot circulate gossips and rumours”.

The Delhi High Court bench of Justice Anu Malhotra was dealing with the plea filed by Baba Ramdev against Civil Judge's order dated April 28, regarding lifting of the ban over publication and sale of 'Godman to Tycoon: The Untold Story of Baba Ramdev,' by setting aside the injunction order of the trial Court passed in August 2017.

In April 2018, the trial court lifted the interim injunction on the publication and sale of the book.

The publication and sale of the book had been restrained on August 4, 2017.
