Justice Murari appointed Chief Justice of Punjab-Haryana HC

On May 31, after almost a month since the post fell vacant, the Ministry of Law and Justice announced the appointment of Justice Krishna Murari as Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He will be administered the oath on June 2, 2018.

The appointment is likely to be formalized by the President via a warrant of appointment in the upcoming days.

Justice Murari will follow former Chief Justice S J Vazifdar, who retired recently on May 3, 2018.

In April 2018, the Supreme Court Collegium made the commendation. While recommending him, the Collegium had said that currently there is only one Chief Justice from the Allahabad High Court, in spite of it being the largest High Court in the country.

Justice Murari has been serving as a Judge of the Allahabad High Court since the year 2004. He was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Court in 2004 and became a Permanent Judge in August 2005.
