It is presently functioning with 24 judges against the strength of 52
The Central government has cleared the appointment of two advocates DM Devan Mahendrabhai Desai and MK Thakker as Additional Judges of the Gujarat High Court. A notification to this effect was published by the Ministry of Law & Justice.
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the names recently. The resolution stated that the Gujarat High Court Collegium comprising then Chief Justice and two senior-most judges had unanimously made the recommendation in September last.
The resolution further stated that the Chief Minister and the Governor of the State of Gujarat had also concurred with the recommendation.
