Centre Notifies Appointment of Three New Judges to Telangana High Court

The Central Government has notified the appointment of three new Judges to the High Court of Telangana.

Advocate Anil Kumar Jukanti, Advocate Laxminsarayana Alishetty and Judicial Officer Sujana Kalasikam are the new judges appointed.

Union Minister of State with Independent Charge of the Law and Justice Ministry, Arjun Ram Meghwal, tweeted the development.

Previously, the Supreme Court Collegium system had recommended their names.

The Chief Justice of Telangana, in consultation with two his senior most colleagues had recommended the three names on 23 October 2022. The inputs provided that all three candidates enjoyed a good professional and personal image, and nothing adverse was reflected upon their integrity.

Advocate Anil Kumar has more than twenty years of standing with the Bar and specializes in taxation, civil and criminal law.

Advocate Laxminarayana Alishetty, has standing record of standing of 26 years with the Bar and specializes in writ litigation, arbitration, civil and commercial litigation.

The Supreme Court Collegium, after due consideration, had accepted that the three candidates are suitable for being appointed as judges for the High Court of Telangana.

The Telangana High Court, which has a sanctioned strength of 42 judges, is currently functioning with 28 judges.
