The global law firm Dentons, through its Indian presence Dentons Link Legal, successfully advised and represented a leading multinational Indian automobile company in a complex arbitration, securing a favourable arbitral award.
The dispute arose under a Dealership Agreement involving substantial outstanding payments. Following a detailed review of the contractual framework, the firm initiated proceedings under Section 11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 before the Bombay High Court, leading to the constitution of the Arbitral Tribunal. Dentons Link Legal represented the client throughout the proceedings and successfully established that the dealer’s counterclaim was time-barred and without merit. The Tribunal allowed the client’s claims in full, with interest and costs.
