Government clears appointment of five judicial officers as additional judges of Gujarat High Court

It has been functioning with 24 judges against the working strength of 52

The Central government has cleared the appointment of five judicial officers as additional judges of the Gujarat High Court.

The appointment was made after Supreme Court Collegium’s recommendation early this month.

The judicial officers are - Susan Valentine Pinto; Hasmukhbhai Dalsukhbhai Suthar; Jitendra Champaklal Doshi; Mangesh Rameshchandra Mengdey; and Divyeshkumar Amrutlal Joshi.

The resolution passed by the SC Collegium stated that the Gujarat High Court Collegium comprising the then chief justice and two senior-most judges unanimously made the recommendation on 26 September 2022. The chief minister and the governor of Gujarat had also concurred with the recommendation.
