No reprieve to former DGP in ISRO Espionage Case
The High Court of Kerala has quashed the time limit of 60-days imposed by the Sessions Court for the pre-arrest bail to ex-Director-General of Police (DGP) Siby Mathews. The former DGP is one of the four accused in the case relating to conspiracy to frame ex-ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan and others in the 1994 ISRO Espionage case.
A single bench of Justice K Haripal's rule came on the plea filed by Mathews.
After the expiry of the Thiruvananthapuram Sessions Court's order, the High Court of Kerala had extended the time limit several times.
Earlier, the HC had dismissed the plea of S Vijayan, ex-police officer, also an accused in the conspiracy case. The case is about an investigation into the allegations against Narayanan, the former ISRO scientist who allegedly transferred large tracts of land worth crores to the investigating officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu.
