Justice Arun Palli Sworn In As Chief Justice Of Jammu & Kashmir And Ladakh High Court

He was serving as the judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court

Justice Arun Palli has been sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh by Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha.

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Justice Palli's elevation days before the retirement of Chief Justice Tashi Rabistan on 9 April.

In the interim, Justice Sanjeev Kumar was serving as the acting Chief Justice.

Justice Palli was then serving as judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

He was born on 18 September 1964. His father, Prem Kishan Palli, was a Senior Advocate and served as a judge at the Himachal Pradesh High Court, from where he retired in 1998.

Justice Palli graduated in commerce and completed his law degree from the University of Punjab in 1988.

He began his legal practice at the Punjab and Haryana High Court and in 2004, was appointed Additional Advocate General for Punjab. He held the position for three years until March 2007.

He was designated as a Senior Advocate the same year and on 28 December 2013, was elevated as a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Justice Palli has served as Executive Chairman of Haryana State Legal Service Authority since 31 May 2023. On 31 October the same year, he was nominated as a Member of the Governing Body of the National Legal Services Authority for two years.
