Justice Kanneganti Lalitha has been sworn in as judge of the High Court of Telangana. She was appointed as judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in 2020.

With her transfer, the number of judges, including the Chief Justice, in Telangana HC has risen to 19.

Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma administered the oath of office to the new judge at the swearing-in ceremony convened in the HC.

At the farewell function, Justice Lalitha said that a judicial academy was imperative for strengthening the subordinate judiciary. Observing that remands were being carried out in a mechanical manner by the lower courts, she said there was an immediate requirement for staff at the AP High Court.

The three years old court has been facing problems due to the dearth of staff since its inception, she remarked while praising the administrative and judicial staff that worked for long hours.

Expressing concern over attacks on the judiciary, Justice Lalitha said, "Aspersions are cast with a motive to intimidate judges. However, being an optimist, I look upon these as passing clouds and the majesty of the institution continues to hold its head notwithstanding such insinuations."
