The most long-standing matter dates to 1979

The Supreme Court has notified that the 300 oldest cases pending before it after the notice will be listed on non-miscellaneous days beginning from 11 October 2022.

Among the list is a civil appeal of 1979 titled Union of India vs Nava Bharat Ferroy Alloys Ltd. and Others. The matter was last heard on 4 July 2018.

The top court's registry recently decided not to register 13,147 diary items having uncured defects since 19 August 2014.
