ADNA Advised Lenders on Casablanca Desalination Project, a Groundbreaking SWRO PPP Powered by Renewable Energy

ADNA advised Bank of Africa, BCP Banque Centrale Populaire, Attijariwafa Bank, Société Générale CIB, and FIEM/ICO Instituto de Crédito Oficial on the Casablanca Desalination Project, a pioneering seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) public-private partnership (PPP) initiative in Morocco. This transformative project is powered entirely by renewable wind energy and features a fully integrated water transportation system. It marks a significant step forward in enhancing Morocco’s water security, directly supporting Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) on clean water and sanitation.

The project is expected to supply drinking water and irrigation to over 7.5 million people in the Casablanca-Settat region. It represents the first in a series of sustainable infrastructure initiatives aimed at climate resilience and long-term water access in the country. The sponsor consortium was led by ACCIONA and Green of Africa (Akwa Group).
