Baker McKenzie advised Colt Technology Services for the proposed acquisition of Lumen Technologies

Leading international legal firm Baker McKenzie has provided advice to London headquartered Colt Technology Services (Colt), a provider of digital infrastructure, on the negotiation of an exclusive agreement for the proposed $1.8 billion purchase of Lumen Technologies' Europe, Middle East and Africa business.

The planned deal, which is subject to usual conditions, will involve the divestiture by Lumen of its EMEA business, including its terrestrial and subsea networks, data centres and network equipment in the region to Colt. When the deal is done, Colt's infrastructure will be extended to new geographic regions, enhancing the services and capabilities it offers to multinational corporations and key partners.

Charles Whitefoord, a London Corporate Partner who headed the Baker McKenzie team, was joined by Kata Szeidovitz, Jack Bliss, Lucy Wallace, and Corporate Senior Associate Claire Guthrie.

Steve Holmes, London Technology & Telecoms Partner and associate Dan Relton oversaw the transaction's telecom and business components.

The Colt legal team, which was directed by Caroline Griffin Pain and comprised Alex Galtieri, Nadine Ramasamy, Yan Arnaud, Rashi Narayan, and Annarita Spena, collaborated closely with the company.

Charles Whitefoord offered this analysis of the agreement: "It was a joy to assist Colt with this intricate, highly regulated transaction spanning several countries. In the upcoming years, we anticipate witnessing the company's growth to continue."

BCLP's Andrew Hart led the group representing Lumen Technologies. The transaction's business components were managed by Carol Osborn.
