Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer Advised SEC On Acquisition And Development Of 205 MW Delburn Wind Farm In Gippsland
Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer (HSF Kramer) has advised the SEC Victoria (SEC), on the acquisition and development of the Delburn Wind Farm (205 MW capacity) just south of the Latrobe Valley in Gippsland (the Project).
SEC acquired 100% of the Delburn Wind Farm. The transaction is market-leading, with SEC to deliver Victoria’s first publicly owned, utility-scale wind generation project.
The 33-turbine wind farm is expected to be in operation in 2028 and will generate up to 205 megawatts of renewable energy to the electricity grid, enough to power more than 130,000 homes.
Projects and energy (Partner), Alison Dodd, said “it was great to work with SEC on the development of this key project for Victoria’s transition. This is the first wind farm to reach financial close in Victoria in the last year - bringing diversity of generation as Victoria moves to replace retiring coal generation.”
Corporate energy (Partner), Neena Aynsley, on the matter, said, “This is a landmark transaction for Victoria’s energy transition, with public policy and M&A strategy converging to deliver critical renewable energy infrastructure. We are proud to have provided SEC with end-to-end support across all aspects of this important project.”
The HSF Kramer’s team was led by Alison Dodd (Partner), Neena Aynsley (Partner), and Anthony Ellis (Partner). They were supported by executive Abbie Pokorny (Counsel), Chevi Levin (Counsel), and Skye Kirby (Counsel), Alyce Rae (Senior Associate), and Paul Tamburro (Associate), Yonnie Lipshatz (Solicitor), and Elizabeth Papapetrou (Solicitor), and graduates Oanh Le and Angela Liu.
