White & Case acted for Brookfield Infrastructure on India Data Centre Joint Venture

Global law firm White & Case LLP has provided legal counsel to Brookfield Infrastructure, a prominent global infrastructure company, on the investment by Reliance Industries Ltd. This investment aims to expand Brookfield's existing joint venture with Digital Realty Ltd. The joint venture's focus is to develop top-tier, well-connected, and scalable data centres in India, catering to the crucial infrastructure requirements of enterprises and digital services companies.

Upon completion of the transaction, the joint venture will operate under the name Digital Connexion: A Brookfield, Jio, and Digital Realty Company, with each partner holding an equal one-third stake in the venture.

Brookfield Infrastructure is a prominent global infrastructure company renowned for its ownership and operation of high-quality, long-life assets in various sectors, including utilities, transport, midstream, and data, spanning North and South America, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. As the flagship listed infrastructure company of Brookfield Asset Management, a leading global alternative asset manager with a staggering $825 billion in assets under management, Brookfield Infrastructure holds a significant presence in India, where it presently manages $24 billion worth of assets.

The White & Case team, entrusted with this transaction, was skillfully led by M&A partners Oliver Brahmst and Adam Cieply from New York. The team comprised Tax partner Sang I. Ji and associate Adriana Zhan from New York, as well as M&A associate Jane Kim from New York, and M&A partner Tzi Yang Seow and associate Victor Lim from Singapore.

In addition, the team included International Arbitration partners Jonathan Hamilton from Washington, DC, and Edward Attenborough from London, along with counsel Jonathan Ulrich from Washington, DC. Further support came from Debt Finance partners Charles McConnell and Alexander McMyn from Singapore, Colin Harley and Nicola Chapman from London, and associates Katelyn Chia from Singapore and Nicolle Odutoye from London.

Lastly, Intellectual Property partner Lindsey Canning and associate Amy Detheridge from London, along with International law clerk Isabelle James, also contributed their expertise to the matter.
