Patent Office Rules In Favor Of Maya Appliances In Opposition Filed By Versuni

Maya Appliances' patent for intelligent cooking stove system upheld by Patent Office, Versuni's opposition dismissed.

The Patent Office dismisses the post-grant opposition filed by Versuni India Home Solutions Limited against Maya Appliances' patent for an "Intelligent Cooking Stove System". The opposition was based on grounds of insufficiency of disclosure, anticipation by prior publication, and obviousness.

The Patent Office found that the opponent failed to establish that the patent specification was insufficient. The drawings submitted showed the raised or said features, and the court emphasized the significance of drawings in demonstrating sufficiency.

The Patent Office also concluded that the cited document D1 (US5046477) did not disclose all the features of the patent, including a frameless body and leg portions connected via a connecting mechanism to the top portion.

Furthermore, the Patent Office analyzed documents D1-D7 and found that they did not render the invention obvious. The documents did not disclose all the features of the patent, and the opponent failed to establish that the invention was predictable based on available prior art.

The Patent Office has refused the post-grant opposition and awarded costs to the patentee, Maya Appliances.
