CBIC issues advisory on Changes in System with respect of AD Code Registration in exports

The Director-General of System and Data Management of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes (CBIC) has issued an advisory on changes in the system with respect to AD Code Registration in exports.

The notification issued on 14 June 2022 states that there was a demand from trade that an AD Code should be required to be registered only once in the customs system for filing documents across all customs locations.

Earlier, the AD Code associated with a bank account needed to be registered at every port where documents (shipping bill) were filed. Additionally, there were multiple AD Codes associated with an IEC at the various port. Each AD Code was required to be approved by an officer at individual ports.

According to the new changes, the AD Code associated with a bank account will now be registered at only one port, and the registered AD Code will be available at all customs locations. Therefore, there will not be a requirement for a separate registration each time.

In the event there is an amendment or change in the particular AD Code, the same shall be made at the port of registration.

There can be multiple AD Codes and registered accounts associated with an IEC. No changes have been made in this regard.

All multiple AD codes will have to be registered in the System at any one of the ports as explained above. Thus for an IEC, there can be different ports of registration for different AD codes.

The Advisory reads that, for the existing AD Codes, the custom port where the last shipping bill was filed shall be considered as the registration port. Any changes/amendments to the AD Code will be made at that port only.

The details of the port of registration for each registered AD code against an IEC would be available on the ICEGATE login ID under Bank Account Management Option.
