Recently, government officials of Estonia reported that Indian business magnate Mukesh Ambani—the Chairman, Managing Director, and the largest shareholder of Reliance Industries Limited—is keen on the e-governance space and has set up a subsidiary company in Estonia, with the Estonian government's former Chief Information Officer Taavi Kotka, to get a grip on the solutions.

Reportedly, Viljar Lubi, Deputy Secretary General for Economic Development at the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, said that this joint venture will be looking for solutions in the e-governance space.

According to several Estonian officials, the role of private companies has been crucial in developing the digital infrastructure used by almost all of its citizens. The country claims of 99% of digital penetration.

The officials thus believe that this was the reason Ambani took an e-residency of Estonia in May 2018, which, among other benefits, helps a foreigner access the EU opportunity by helping him/her form a company.
