The Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police will conclude investigation in the Dr Payal Tadvi suicide case within two weeks, Special Public Prosecutor Raja Thakare submitted in the Bombay High Court, opposing the bail plea filed by the three accused doctors, Hema Ahuja, Bhakti Mehare and Ankita Khandelwal of the B.Y.L. Nair Hospital.

The probe was in critical stage with Special Prosecutor telling the single bench of Justice S.S. Jadhav that the three accused were not cooperating and there was the likelihood of them absconding or tampering with evidence. It was a high profile case with the murdered victim also doing her doctorate.

Giving the case a professional touch the High Court told the Special Prosecutor to inform the Medical Council of India (MCI) and its state department, Medical Council of Maharashtra (MC) about the case against the three accused doctors.

The accused have been booked under Sections 34 and 306 of the Indian Penal Code, Section 67 of Information Technology Act, Section 3 of The Scheduled Cases and The Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and offences under the Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act.
