2nd Antitrust Lawsuit against Google in December

According to two people in the know, a cross-party group of US states is planning to file an antitrust lawsuit against Google mid-December. Constituted by Utah, Tennessee, North Carolina, New York, Nebraska, Iowa and Colorado, this group is sometimes called the Colorado/Nebraska group and plans to merge its case with that of the federal government. One of the sources said that the suit is expected to be filed in federal district court.

In September last year, a group of attorneys general from 50 states and territories led by Texas had declared a probe of Google. A year later, the Colorado/Nebraska group has a wider probe underway even as the Texas probe is delayed. As compared to the Colorado/ Nebraska group's probe, the Justice Department's probe focuses only on Google's dominance in search and search advertising.

Meanwhile, Google has maintained that its search engine and other products are dominant because consumers prefer them over others.
