Freshfields Advised NEC on $2.89 Billion Acquisition of CSG Systems

The Global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer advised Japanese technology group NEC on its $2.89 billion acquisition of U.S.-based telecoms and broadband software company CSG Systems. The transaction is aimed at strengthening NEC’s position as a global leader in next-generation digital solutions and expanding its software-as-a-service (SaaS) portfolio. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals.

The Freshfields team advising NEC was led by Gordon Palmquist (Partner) and Noah Carr (Partner) in Tokyo, and Denny Kwon (Partner) and Steven Li (Partner) in the U.S. Kaori Yamada, Kevin Yingling, Justin Stewart-Teitelbaum, Aimen Mir, and Brian Reissaus advised on regulatory matters, while Sarah Ghulamhussain advised on executive compensation matters.
