Latham & Watkins advised Muse Capital on its investment into the Red Bull Italy SailGP Team, as part of a consortium of investors and sports industry leaders. The sport’s first female-led ownership group is fronted by Assia Grazioli Venier, founding partner of Muse Capital, and luxury brand entrepreneur Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, with one of the world’s most decorated sailors, Jimmy Spithill, as CEO and co-owner.

Additional investors include MFO Certuity, YEH Capital, Alexander Gilkes, Evan Yurman, Anne Hathaway, Adam Shulman, Miriam Leone, Julie Eddleman, Heather Karatz, Pete Delgrosso, and Dr. Jennifer Ashton.

This transaction follows Latham & Watkins’ role advising Mubadala Capital on its strategic investment to launch a new SailGP team to represent Brazil.

The Latham & Watkins team was led by London-based entertainment, sports, and media partner Patrick Mitchell, with London partners Linzi Thomas and Katie Peek, and associates Alice Drayton and Victoria Mah. Advice was also provided on UK employment matters by London partner Kendall Burnett, with associate Joseph Goddard; on data and technology matters by London partner Christian McDermott, with associates Grace Erskine and Lorenzo Meusburger; and on US funds matters by Washington, D.C. partner Amy Rigdon and associates Dave Hart and Sandile Magagula.
