UUBO Advised FMO on $25 Million NASIRA Guarantee to FCMB

Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie (UUBO) advised Nederlandse Financierings-Maatschappij Voor Ontwikkelingslanden N.V. (FMO) on a $25 million NASIRA guarantee facility extended to First City Monument Bank Limited (FCMB).

The guarantee is aimed at expanding FCMB’s lending to agricultural, youth, rural, and female-owned small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), thereby promoting financial inclusion across underserved communities in Nigeria. By eliminating the need for traditional collateral, the NASIRA guarantee enables FCMB to offer credit to borrowers typically considered high-risk, ultimately fostering inclusive economic growth and job creation.

The UUBO team advising on the transaction was led by Onyinye Okafor (Partner), with support from Chisom Okolie (Senior Associate) and Uchechukwu Ojimba and Glory Ogueri-Onyeukwu (Associates).
