The largest law firm in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Al Tamimi & Company acted as UAE law counsel to the initial purchasers in connection with the US$870.75 million green bond issuance by Dhafra PV2 Energy Co. LLC. The issuance was undertaken to refinance the existing debt of the Al Dhafra Solar Photovoltaic Independent Power Plant, one of the world’s largest single-site solar power projects and a key component of Abu Dhabi’s clean energy strategy.
The bond, carrying a coupon of 5.794 percent, was announced in early January and received strong investor interest, resulting in significant oversubscription. The successful issuance highlights robust global demand for long-term, investment-grade sustainable infrastructure assets.
The transaction was coordinated by leading international financial institutions, including BNP Paribas and HSBC.
The Al Tamimi & Company deal team was jointly led by Rafiq Jaffer (Partner) and Muhammad Mitha from the Debt Capital Markets practice, along with Mark Brown (Partner) and Marianna Margaritidou (Associate) from the Banking & Finance – Project Finance team.
