The leading Malaysian law firm, Christopher & Lee Ong, a member firm of Rajah & Tann Asia, acted as transaction counsel in connection with the establishment of (i) a RM500 million Islamic commercial papers programme; and (ii) a RM3.5 billion Sukuk Wakalah programme for the issuance of senior Sukuk Wakalah and subordinated perpetual Sukuk Wakalah, including a sub-limit of RM1.5 billion for subordinated perpetual Sukuk Wakalah, by S P Setia Berhad.
The proceeds from issuances under the Islamic commercial papers and Sukuk Wakalah programmes will be utilised, among others, for the SP Setia Group’s working capital requirements, refinancing of existing conventional and Islamic financings, general corporate purposes, capital expenditure, investments, and asset acquisitions.
