Clifford Chance has advised Asterion Industrial Partners on a €400 million co-investment commitment from certain of its existing investors, as part of an €800 million equity financing for ABIO, Asterion’s European biomethane platform. This forms part of Asterion’s recently announced €1.5 billion investment capacity for ABIO, which also includes €400 million from Asterion Industrial Infra Fund III and additional debt financing.
ABIO is rapidly scaling its European footprint, with six operational biomethane plants, six under construction, and a target of 20 operational facilities by the end of 2026. The platform has established a presence in Iberia, Italy, Germany, Benelux and the United Kingdom, with a strategy tailored to local market conditions.
The Clifford Chance team was led by Tom Fisher (Partner), Patrick Scott (Partner) and Javier Amantegui (Partner). The wider team consisted of Craig Grant (Senior Associate), James Pearce (Lawyer), Adam Clifton (Lawyer) and Damilola Akinrele (Lawyer).
