Kirkland & Ellis Advised CF Industries On Joint Venture With Mitsui & Co. And JERA Co. For Production And Offtake Of Low-Carbon Ammonia

The JV will construct at Blue Point Complex of CF Industries in Louisiana, the world’s largest low-carbon ammonia plant, with an estimated cost of around $4 billion.

Kirkland & Ellis has advised the world’s largest producer of ammonia, CF Industries Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CF), on a joint venture with Mitsui & Co., Inc., a leading global investment and trading company, and JERA Co., Inc., Japan’s largest energy company, for construction, production and offtake of low-carbon ammonia. The JV will construct at Blue Point Complex of CF Industries in Louisiana, the world’s largest low-carbon ammonia plant, with an estimated cost of around $4 billion. Scalable infrastructure will also be built and operated at the Blue Point site by CF Industries to supply services including product storage and loading to the ammonia production facility. Around $550 million will be invested by CF Industries for these facilities. CF Industries will receive ongoing services revenue from the JV ammonia production facility.
