Willkie Farr & Gallagher has hired three senior real estate lawyers - Misty Sanford, Karen Lorang, and Aimee Contreras-Camua as partners in the real estate department, to give a boost to its recently launched Los Angeles office.

The trio has over four decades of experience in the real estate market, advising on a range of residential and commercial property-related matters, including buying, and selling, finance, redevelopment, leasing, and environmental issues.

They were all serving at Munger Tolles & Olson.

While Stanford, who becomes the chair of Willkie's West Coast real estate practice, worked at Munger for 17 years. Lorang worked there for almost nine years after having a one-year stint as a law clerk at the US Courts for the Ninth Circuit in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Contreras-Camua joined Munger last year after working for three years at Pircher Nichols & Meeks. Prior to that, she served at Sidley Austin for two decades. She is also the president of the Asian Pacific American Women Lawyers Alliance.

Thomas Henry, the co-chair of the firm's real estate department, commented, "We have more than doubled the size of our real estate team in the last five years, with a coast-to-coast presence in the US, coupled with global capabilities in Europe. Stanford, Lorang, and Contreras-Camua have built a sophisticated national practice with an emphasis on the West Coast market."

Alex Weingarten, the managing partner of Willkie's Los Angeles office, said, "All three have strong ties to the Los Angeles community through their client work as well as pro bono commitments and other civic engagement. They will further broaden the firm's presence in the market."

Willkie, which presently has over 70 lawyers, opened its Los Angeles office last year, the firm's third on the US West Coast.
