Electronic Arts (EA) is in the process of filing a new patent introducing the system that is AI-controlled and will allow the self-playing matches to be implemented in its mobile sports games.

The Patent being filed by EA focuses on the domain of AI for having self-playing matches. EA patent is in the line of various patents being filed by EA touching onto different aspects of gaming experiences. This patent, not only, touches upon the aspects of AI self-playing matches but also changes the in-game advertisement and facial animation advancements and eliminating the need for a boot-up screen.

The background of the patent notes, "Mobile computing devices, such as smartphones and tablets, have increasingly become the primary computing devices for many users... However, the duration of a single game in sports video games is commonly too long for the normal contiguous usage of a mobile computing device. Furthermore, the duration of the single game is commonly too long for a user to play against another user who is also playing, using a mobile computing device."

As per the content by Game Rant, the new patent of EA will be implemented in EA's mobile sports games giving option at impactful part of the game. As per the claims, this patent will allow the players to finish the game at a faster rate since the mobile sports game take too long to complete in an acceptable amount of time.

EA has been named in various lawsuits filed regarding the loot boxes in the games and due to its anti-consumer practices; it is regarded as one of the least liked companies in America. Various cases with regards to the in-game advertisements, incentivized loot boxes, pay-to-win games, and Star Wars' general mismanagement have been filed against EA.

Through this patent, EA is trying to foster innovative practices to gain the lost ground. Few other examples include its EA Originals initiative, which fosters original IPs with smaller independent studios, and the return of its College Football series. Hopefully, the patent being filed by EA can bring a more simplified approach to the gaming industry, which can help EA to garner an efficient track record.
