Lawyer MV Kini, founder of the law firm MV Kini & Company, passed away on 28 June 2023, after suffering a brain haemorrhage on the night of 24 June.
Starting in 1978 in Mumbai with one office that comprised four employees, the firm has grown its operational base to 16 locations around India with more than 150 employees.
MV Kini was on the panel of lawyers representing the Airports Authority of India (AAI). Considered one of the foremost experts in aviation law in the country, he personally represented AAI in several landmark cases.
He was also an expert in prosecuting white-collar crimes and led several high-profile prosecutions in fraud cases in nationalized and private banks, including against cover-ups of scams in the financial sector. Lately, he represented various international business interests in India.
