U.S. Trade Commission launches probe into Roku, Purple Tag, Hisense devices over patent claims

The complaint was filed by InnoTV Labs LLC seeking remedies to restrict the import of items

The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) has initiated an investigation under Section 337 concerning alleged patent infringement of certain streaming products, display units, and related components associated with Roku Inc, Purple Tag Media Technology and Hisense Visual Technology.

Filed by InnoTV Labs LLC, a company based in Las Vegas, the complaint was made against California-headquartered Roku, Shanghai-based Purple Tag Media Technology, and China’s Hisense Visual Technology, along with affiliated entities. It blamed the firms using the patented technologies without authorization.

According to the USITC, the complainant sought remedies that could restrict the import of the accused products into the U.S., including exclusion orders and directives to halt sales and distribution.
