AZB & Partners advised KKR on acquisition of ~10% stake in National Highways Infrastructure Trust
The leading law firm in India, AZB & Partners advised KKR on the acquisition of approximately a 10% stake in National Highways Infrastructure Trust (NHIT) from CPPIB and OTPP. NHIT is an InvIT sponsored by the National Highways Authority of India and comprises 26 operational toll road assets across 12 states in India. The value of the transaction is around INR 3,000 crores.
The transaction involved multi-disciplinary advisory support across M&A, competition law, and capital markets issues. The AZB & Partners M&A team was led by Ashwath Rau (Senior Partner) and Atreya Bhattacharya (Senior Partner), with support from Vyjayanthi Raghu (Senior Associate), Shubhalakshmi Bhattacharya (Associate), Harsh Gupta (Associate), Tansa Shah (Associate), and Aditya Bamb (Associate).
The competition law aspects were handled by Bharat V Budholia (Senior Partner), Kirthi Srinivas (Partner), Ashna Mahajan (Associate), Varnika Agarwal (Associate), Arth Doshi (Associate), and Aryaman Kapoor (Associate).
