Bowmans advised Telkom SA SOC Ltd in relation to the sale of its wholly owned tower infrastructure subsidiary, Swiftnet, to an Actis-led consortium, which included Royal Bafokeng Holdings as the Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) partner.
The transaction, valued at ZAR 6.75 billion, was completed on 27 March 2025, and represents a key milestone in Telkom’s strategic plan to unlock value from its infrastructure assets while focusing on its core business operations.
The Bowmans transaction team was led by Ryan Wessels, with support from Shmuel Moch, Heather Irvine, Helen Wilsenach, Kate Beretta, Michael Vermaak, Daniel Pretorius, Lenja Dahms-Jansen, Mark Kyle, Charissa Beyers, Dr John Paul Ongeso, Songezo Ralarala, Disebo L., and Mokgadi Mamabolo, among others.
This landmark deal underscores Bowmans’ expertise in advising on high-value, transformative transactions within the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) sector, especially those involving complex regulatory considerations and multi-party engagements. It also reinforces the firm’s dedication to supporting strategic initiatives that foster innovation and infrastructure development across Africa.
