Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas advised Adani Data Networks on spectrum transfer to Bharti Airtel and Bharti Hexacom
Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) advised as Indian law advisor to Adani Data Networks Limited (“ADNL”) in relation to its spectrum trading agreement for the transfer of 400 MHz spectrum in the 26GHz band to Bharti Airtel Limited and its subsidiary Bharti Hexacom Limited. The spectrum spans six telecom circles — Gujarat (100MHz), Mumbai (100MHz), Andhra Pradesh (50MHz), Rajasthan (50MHz), Karnataka (50MHz), and Tamil Nadu (50MHz).
ADNL had secured usage rights for the spectrum in India’s first 5G spectrum auction held in 2022. The transaction is subject to customary conditions and statutory approvals, including clearance from the Department of Telecommunication.
The Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas team was led by Saurabh Sharma (Partner), with support from Yashaanki Kora (Associate) and Tanuj Agarwal (Associate).
Arun Prabhu (Partner, Head – Technology) provided strategic guidance on the matter, supported by Himanshi Mahajan (Associate).
Aviral Sahai (Partner) and Palak Singh (Associate) advised on regulatory aspects of the transaction.
The transaction was signed on 22 April 2025, and closing is currently pending regulatory approvals.
