Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas Advised ONGC On Landmark Joint Ventures With Mitsui O.S.K. Lines
Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas advised ONGC on landmark joint ventures with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines
The leading law firm in India, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) advised Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) on its landmark joint ventures with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), marking a significant milestone in India’s energy logistics and supply chain infrastructure.
In addition to structuring and advising on the joint venture arrangements, CAM assisted ONGC in negotiating long-term 15-year time charter party agreements for two Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLECs). These vessels will be deployed for transporting ethane from the United States to India, thereby creating a stable and dedicated corridor for energy feedstock movement and ensuring a secure supply chain for ONGC Petro Additions Ltd (OPaL).
CAM further advised ONGC on two Ship Building Contracts (SBCs) to be executed by the ONGC-MOL joint ventures with Samsung Heavy Industries, South Korea, for the construction of the VLECs.
The contracts were formally signed on January 27, 2026, during the India Energy Week held in Goa, in the presence of the Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri.
The Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas deal team was led by Vivek Rathore (Partner), with support from Nitin Gupta (Director – Projects & Infrastructure) and Nandini Shenai (Associate).
