Gaja Capital leads Rs 85-cr investment in Chumbak Design

Mid-market private equity firm Gaja Capital has led a Rs 85-crore investment round in lifestyle venture Chumbak Design, which sells designer-led consumer products.
"There are very few design-driven, lifestyle brands in India, and that's what makes Chumbak a very unique investment from our perspective," said Gopal Jain, managing partner at Gaja Capital.
Matrix Partners India and Seedfund, existing investors venture capital firms, also participated in the round, putting in Rs 22 crore and Rs 6 crore, respectively. Gaja Capital invested Rs 52 crore.
Rajaram Legal acted for Chumbak and Matrix and the team was led by Partners Archana Rajaram and Priyadarshini Sherchan.
Gaja Capital was advised and acted upon by DSK Legal along with team Associate Partner Pritha Jha, Deepti Sarma, Sanket Jain, Taskeen Hamid, Mayank Mehta, Rukmini Bose and Pooja Khanna.
ALMT Legal acted for Seedfund Group and the team was led by Partner Arindam Basu.
