Khaitan & Co advised Concept Hospitality on strategic partnership with Marriott International
Khaitan & Co advised Concept Hospitality Private Limited (CHPL) on the execution of definitive documents for a strategic partnership with a group company of Marriott International, Inc. Under the arrangement, CHPL’s flagship hotel brands – The Fern, The Fern Residency, and The Fern Habitat – will be affiliated with Marriott’s newly launched regional collection brand, ‘Series by Marriott™’. Additionally, Marriott has agreed to make a small equity investment in CHPL.
Founded in 1996 by Param Kannampilly, CHPL is one of India’s leading hotel management companies, operating over 100 hotels in 90 locations under six different brands. The Fern portfolio currently includes 84 open properties and 31 executed pipeline deals, totalling approximately 8,000 rooms. As part of the partnership, CHPL’s Fern properties are expected to join Marriott’s India portfolio over time, subject to discussions with third-party hotel owners and the execution of long-term franchise agreements.
CG Hospitality, the hospitality division of CG Corp Global, is the majority stakeholder in CHPL.
