Khaitan & Co Advised Numaligarh Refinery Limited On Selection Of Developer For Green Hydrogen Generation Unit
Khaitan & Co advised Numaligarh Refinery Limited on selection of developer for Green Hydrogen Generation Unit
The leading Indian law firm, Khaitan & Co advised Numaligarh Refinery Limited on drafting and finalisation of the complete tender suite and green hydrogen purchase agreement for the selection of a bidder through an international competitive bidding process. The project involves development of a green hydrogen generation unit on a build, own, and operate basis for the supply of gaseous green hydrogen to the refinery at Numaligarh, Assam.
Numaligarh Refinery, commissioned in 2000 with a crude processing capacity of 3 MMTPA, is currently undergoing expansion to 9 MMTPA under the Numaligarh Refinery Expansion Project (NREP), aligned with the Government of India’s Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 to meet growing petroleum product demand in northeastern India.
Following the tender process, NeuEN Green Energy Private Limited, a joint venture between Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Sembcorp Industries Limited, emerged as the successful bidder, offering INR 279 per kg for the supply of 10,000 tons of green hydrogen per annum.
The Khaitan & Co core team comprised Dibyanshu (Partner), Prateek Bhandari (Counsel), Ishita Gupta (Principal Associate), and Ashish Jain (Senior Associate).
