S&R Associates advised Carrefour on its franchise partnership with Apparel Group in India

S&R Associates advised Carrefour on Indian legal and tax aspects of its new franchise agreement with Apparel Group in India. This strategic partnership supports Carrefour’s broader global expansion plan to enter 10 new countries by 2026.

Under the terms of the agreement, Apparel Group will exclusively open and operate Carrefour-branded food retail stores across India, starting with Delhi NCR and northern India. The partners aim to rapidly scale the number of stores over the next three years and beyond.

The S&R Associates team was led by Sandip Bhagat (Partner), Rajat Sethi (Partner), and Raya Hazarika (Partner) on corporate matters, and Sumit Bansal (Partner) on direct tax matters.
