Trilegal Advised AkzoNobel on Completion of Sale of AkzoNobel India to JSW Group
The leading law firm in India, Trilegal, advised Akzo Nobel N.V. (AkzoNobel) on the successful completion of the sale of a majority stake in Akzo Nobel India Limited (ANIL) to the JSW Group, marking a significant milestone in the execution of AkzoNobel’s global strategic portfolio review announced in October 2024.
The transaction, one of the largest acquisitions in India’s paints and coatings sector, encompasses AkzoNobel’s liquid paints and coatings business in India. AkzoNobel’s India Powder Coatings business and its International Research Center remain fully owned by AkzoNobel and continue as part of its global network.
Trilegal advised AkzoNobel on all Indian legal aspects of the transaction, including corporate structuring, legal due diligence, regulatory analysis under Indian securities and competition laws, drafting and negotiating the definitive transaction documentation, and supporting closing-related requirements associated with the transfer of a listed business of this scale and complexity.
