Pooja Mahajan


Pooja Mahajan is the Managing Partner of Chandhiok & Mahajan, Advocates & Solicitors. Her practice includes advising clients on all aspects of doing business in India, on mergers and acquisitions; fund raising; debt financing, financial restructuring and corporate insolvency.

Pooja leads the firm’s Restructuring & Insolvency practice which includes advising clients on a range of issues under the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code, 2016. Pooja represents both creditors and debtors in insolvency proceedings and routinely advises resolution professionals and liquidators of a number of companies such as Asian Colour Coated Ispat Limited, Innoventive Industries, Trimax, Calyx Pharmaceuticals, Ricoh India, Provogue India, Patna Highways etc. She also actively advises on investment in distressed assets through resolution plans. She has advised and represented resolution applicants in relation to resolution plans for Jet Airways, Dighi Port, Educomp Infrastructure, Jaypee Infratech etc. Pooja routinely appears and argues before Indian bankruptcy tribunals such as the NCLT and NCLAT as well as the Supreme Court of India in various insolvency and liquidation proceedings.

Pooja has been ranked in Chambers & Partners and was listed as India’s Super 50 Lawyers by Asian Legal Business. She was also recognised by Legal Era magazine as one of their leading “40 under 40” lawyers in India and by IFLR1000 as a ‘Highly Regarded’ lawyer for restructuring and insolvency and corporate M&A transactions.

Pooja is part of IWIRC Asia leadership group and is also an active member of INSOL and IBA. Pooja was also part of World Bank Insolvency & Creditor/ Debtor Regimes Task Force for MSMEs’ insolvency and has worked closely with World Bank on various projects in the field of restructuring and insolvency.

Before C&M, Pooja was a partner in Amarchand & Mangaldas Suresh A. Shroff & Co. She started her career at the chambers of Late Mr. Arun Jaitley and is a graduate from the University of Delhi, with first class honours and a post-graduate with distinction from the University of Oxford.
