Dr. Orlando Lopez is Partner at CMLaw, where he focuses on helping clients, ranging from individual inventors to multinational corporations and universities, identify, protect, and build their intellectual property portfolios. He has extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications across diverse technology fields, including nanotechnology, optics, quantum optics, software, business methods, telecommunications, wireless applications, electronic imaging, and mechanical and physical devices.

Before entering the legal field, he has spent over 25 years in high technology companies such as Polaroid, Data General, Control Data, and Science Applications. His roles included technical manager, program manager, engineer, and researcher. This technical experience provided him with valuable insights into product design, complex research, and interdisciplinary team management, spanning software, IC design, optics, mechanics, and electronics. He also conducted research in areas such as magnetic and optical recording, electromagnetic effects, and imaging science.
