AZB & Partners Successfully Represent Clients in Supreme Court Upholding Enforcement of INR 1200 Crore Foreign Arbitral Award
The leading law firm in India, AZB & Partners successfully represented its clients, NYLIM Jacob Ballas India (FVCI) III LLC and NYLIM Jacob Ballas India Fund III, before the Supreme Court, which upheld the decision of the Madras High Court allowing enforcement of an INR 1200 crore foreign arbitral award in favour of the clients and two other entities.
Key Highlights of the Judgment
The judgment is significant as it emphasises India’s pro-enforcement bias in arbitration matters. It also deals with important aspects of arbitration law, including the nuanced doctrine of transnational issue estoppel, further strengthening the legal framework for enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in India.

The AZB & Partners team comprised Rajendra Barot (Senior Partner), Prabhav Shroff (Partner), Mrudula D. Dixit (Associate), Naman Nayyar (Associate) and Aditi Nazre (Associate), with support from the Delhi team comprising Abhijnan Jha (Partner), Shivam Jain (Associate) and Sia Ganju (Associate).
