Bombay High Court appoints nine judges
It takes the total strength to 62, as against the sanctioned number of 94
The Bombay High Court has appointed nine new judges who have taken the oath as 'additional judges'.
The Supreme Court had recommended their names for elevation to the high court in February. Thereafter, the appointments were notified by the Central government.
Earlier, the strength of the judges of the high court was 53 (permanent - 44 and additional – 9) as against its sanctioned strength of 94 judges.
The judges who took oath are - Kishore Chandrakant Sant; Valmiki Menezes SA; Kamal Rashmi Khata; Sharmila Uttamrao Deshmukh; Arun Ramnath Pednekar; Sandeep Vishnupant Marne; Gauri Vinod Godse; Rajesh Shantaram Patil; and Arif Saleh Doctor.
