Delhi High Court Grants Interim Relief to Jiostar India in Dispute with Absolute Legends Sports Over Legends League Cricket
Jiostar India Pvt. Ltd. has secured an interim order from the Delhi High Court on 11 March 2026 in a petition filed under Section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act against Absolute Legends Sports Pvt. Ltd. in relation to the Legends League Cricket tournament, which was scheduled to kick off the same day.
Court Proceedings
During the hearing, counsel for Absolute Legends Sports Pvt. Ltd. informed the Court that an affidavit would be filed disclosing all commercial transactions currently being undertaken by the company, including agreements executed in relation to the league.
Absolute Legends further undertook before the Court that receivables arising from any commercial arrangements connected to the league would be deposited before the Court in an account to be opened by the Ld. Registrar General.
The Delhi High Court also directed that the directors of Absolute Legends Sports Pvt. Ltd. file affidavits setting out the commercial arrangements and receivables relating to the league.
Mediation Proceedings
The matter was subsequently referred to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre of the Delhi High Court, where the parties were scheduled to appear on 13 March 2026. The case is listed before the Court again on 17 March 2026 for further proceedings.
Jiostar India Pvt. Ltd. appeared as the petitioner through Mr. Kunal Tandon (Senior Advocate), along with Ms. Aanchal Tandon, Ms. Niti Jain, Ms. Niharika Sharma, Mr. Nitai Agarwal and Ms. Natasa, Advocates, along with Ms. Krishma Shah, AR of the Petitioner.
The respondents, Absolute Legends Sports Private Limited & Anr., were represented by Mr. Abhimanyu Bhandari (Senior Advocate), along with Mr. Arjun Syal, Mr. Shreyan Das, Ms. Vidisha Kumar and Mr. Naman Verma, Advocates for R-1, and Ms. Pakhi Jain, Advocate for R-2.
Conclusion
With the interim order in place, the Delhi High Court has ensured disclosure of commercial arrangements and safeguarding of receivables connected with the Legends League Cricket tournament, while directing the parties to explore resolution through mediation before the next hearing.
