Justice AM Khanwilkar to chair Supreme Court Legal Services Committee
Justice AM Khanwilkar of the Supreme Court has been nominated as the next Chairman of the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee.
The Central Authority, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3A of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, read with Rule 10 of the National Legal Services Authority Rules, 1995, nominated Justice Khanwilkar to the post.
On Wednesday, August 25, 2021, a notification to that effect was issued. Justice RF Nariman, who held the post earlier, retired recently from service. The Legal Services authorities provide legal aid and assistance to weak and marginalized sections of the society.
