Supreme Court Recommends Fresh Term For Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal In J&K And Ladakh High Court
Supreme Court Recommends Fresh Term For Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal In J&K And Ladakh High Court
The Supreme Court of India has put forth a recommendation for Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal to serve a fresh term as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
In an official resolution, the Collegium, comprising Chief Justice Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud along with Justices Sanjiv Khanna and B. R. Gavai, has proposed that Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal be appointed as an Additional Judge for a term of one year, commencing from June 3, 2024.
On February 21, 2024, the Collegium of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh had recommended Justice Nargal for the same position. However, due to the absence of a vacancy for a Permanent Judge, the focus shifted to his continuation as an Additional Judge.
Following a meticulous evaluation in accordance with the Memorandum of Procedure, the Collegium reaffirmed Justice Nargal’s merit and suitability for this position. A Committee, consisting of two judges from the Supreme Court, meticulously reviewed Justice Nargal’s judgments and rated their quality as good.
