Supreme Court to decide on Nimbooz
The verdict will be passed in a few days
A two-judge bench of the Supreme Court will decide whether the product 'Nimbooz' should be classified under the item 'Lemonade' or 'Fruit Pulp' or 'Fruit Juice Based Drinks'.
The appellant, Aradhana Foods And Juices Private Limited had approached the apex court challenging the order passed by the Customs, Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT). The Hyderabad Bench of CESTAT had in October 2021, held that 'Nimbooz' would be classifiable under the Central Excise Tariff Act as 'Fruit Pulp' or "Fruit Juice Based Drinks."
But the appellant contended that it could be classified under 'Lemonade'. The top court will finalize the case in the coming few days.
