Dentons advised Gulf Energy on acquisition of Tullow Kenya B.V.
The leading global law firm Dentons advised Kenya-based and owned Gulf Energy on the purchase by its subsidiary, Auron Energy E&P Limited, of shares in Tullow Kenya B.V. from Tullow Overseas Holdings B.V., a subsidiary of Tullow Oil plc. The closing of the transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals.
Tullow Kenya owns a 100% undivided interest in production sharing contracts for oil and gas exploration Blocks 10BA, 10BB, and 13T located in Kenya’s South Lokichar Basin, representing approximately 463 million barrels of 2C resources. Gulf Energy plans to develop these assets towards production and export, marking a significant milestone in Kenya’s domestic oil and gas sector.
The Dentons team advising on the transaction comprised a multi-jurisdictional team from Kenya, the UK, and the Netherlands.
